IMDEA Energy is opening an Assistant Researcher position for the Advanced Porous Materials Unit, looking for talented and motivated candidates with strong background in Chemistry and Materials Science, to work in the preparation of photo/electro/ion conductive Metal Organic Frameworks, their characterization and application in the energy field.

Tasks Description:

• Synthesis of metal organic frameworks (MOFs) with photo/electro/ionic properties employing different routes (high-throughput solvothermal, microwaves, ultrasound, etc.).
• Full structural, physicochemical, spectroscopic and electrochemical characterization of the obtained materials using a large panel of techniques (XRD, IR, gas sorption, TGA, UV-Vis, electronic microscopy, etc.).
• Synthesis and characterization (e.g. NMR, IR, MS) of polycomplexant organic ligands.
• Critical analysis of the results and writing of reports.
• Dissemination and publication of research results in scientific journals.

Compulsory Requirements:

• Being registered in the File of the National Youth Guarantee Scheme and being beneficiary in such file at  the date of signature of the contract. ( https://www.sepe.es/HomeSepe/Personas/encontrar-trabajo/Garantia-Juvenil.html )
• Not being employed by the hiring institution at the date of publication of the call.
• Official BSc in Chemistry, Materials Science, or equivalent.

Merits to value:

• MSc Degree in Chemistry, Material Science, or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience and solid background in materials synthesis (inorganic and coordination chemistry) and characterization (XRD, fluid sorption, spectroscopies, microscopies, TGA, etc.).
• Organic chemistry: synthesis and characterization of organic compounds (chromatography, NMR, mass spectrometry).
• Knowledge and experience on the characterization of photo/electro/ion conductive materials (bandgap determination, luminescence, cyclic voltammetry, impedance).
• Oral and written communication skills in English.

• Adequacy of the candidate's training to the requested profile.
• Work experience related to the profile of the job position.
• Knowledge of English.
• Motivation for accomplishing high-quality research.

Remuneration:  Between 17.500€ – 19.500€ gross salary per year, depending upon qualification and expertise.

Duration of the contract: Two years.
