IMDEA Energy is opening a predoctoral researcher position on the research line “Adsorbent and catalytic materials: environmental applications”, with the following characteristics:

Your Tasks:

• Synthesis of dense and porous hybrid materials with sorption and catalytic properties (e.g. MOFs) and their composite materials.
• Full structural, physicochemical, textural and optical characterization of the obtained materials using a large panel of techniques
• Testing separation and photocatalytic degradation of emerging pollutants. 
• Preparation of a lab-scale prototype working under real flow conditions.
• Critical analysis and dissemination of the results and writing of reports.
• Dissemination and publication of research results in scientific journals.

Compulsory requirements

• Holding an official BSc in Chemistry
• Holding an official Master degree in Chemistry, Materials Science or related areas.
• Fluent oral and written communication skills in English (minimum B2 level; official certificate required).

Assessable requirements:

• Knowledge and experience on basic techniques of hybrid materials synthesis (solvothermal, crystallization, evaporation techniques, etc.).
• Knowledge and experience on characterization methodologies (XRD, IR, Raman, TGA, fluid sorption, microscopic techniques, UV-Vis, fluorescence, HPLC, etc.).
• Knowledge on adsorption and photo-catalytic processes.

• Adequacy of the candidate's training to the requested profile.
• Work experience related to the profile of the job position.
• Knowledge of English.

Remuneration: 19.000-21.000€ gross salary per year, depending upon qualification and expertise.

Duration: One year appointment with annual renewals depending on performance.
