Postdoctoral Researcher Position to work on graphene-based hybrid materials for application in electrochemical devices

Description

IMDEA Energy is opening a Postdoctoral Position for the Electrochemical Processes Unit to work on graphene-based hybrid materials for application in electrochemical devices such as electrochemical reactors, batteries, electrolyzers and fuel cells.

Tasks Description:

  • Research in graphene-based hybrid materials with application in electrochemical devices (electrocatalyst and electrode materials for batteries, electrolyzers, electro-oxidation reactors, etc).
  • Synthesis (eg. sol-gel chemistry, hydrothermal synthesis, electrosynthetic routes) of graphene-based hybrids containing mixed metal oxides and mixed metal sulfides.
  • Advanced characterization techniques (in-situ and in-operando Raman, XRD, XPS).
  • Communicate and disseminate research results through high-quality scientific channels including high impact scientific publications, presentation in congresses, etc.
  • Writing project proposals to national and international calls related to the topic.
  • Supervision of PhD, Master or undergraduate students.
Requirements

Compulsory requirements:

  • Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Chemical Engineering or related areas.
  • Solid background and proved experimental skills in synthesis and characterization of inorganic materials and graphene-based hybrids.
  • Solid background and proved experimental skills in electrochemistry, electrocatalysis, batteries, supercapacitors and advanced characterization techniques.
  • At least 1-year International Post-doctoral experience in energy related topics.

  • Proven experience on assembly and testing of batteries and supercapacitors.
  • Proven experience on structural batteries.
  • Proven experience on materials characterization using synchrotron beamline.
  • Experienced in national and international research projects and collaborations.
  • Publications in high impact scientific journals.
  • Dissemination of results in international congresses.
  • Oral and written communication skills in English.

Conditions

Remuneration: Between 35.000€ – 38.000€ Gross Salary per year, depending upon qualification and expertise.

*The contract includes all the benefits of the Spanish Public Health and Social Security System.

Duration of the contract: 1 year with annual renewals.
