Predoctoral Researcher position to work on “Development and synthesis of dendritic zeolites"
IMDEA Energy Institute is a María de Maeztu Center of Excellence whose objective is to develop R&D activities in the fields of renewable energies and clean energy technologies by establishing strong links with leading companies in the energy sector. (www.energy.imdea.org).
In particular, the TODENZE project (OPENING THE PATHWAY TOWARDS DENDRITIC ZEOLITES), a European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grant H2020-EU.1.1. - EXCELLENT SCIENCE (Grant agreement ID: 101021502), is addressed to the development of a new type of zeolites, having dendritic properties, which may impact very positively on their applications in a variety of sectors, such as their use as catalysts for biomass valorisation, and as nanocarriers for combined drug and gene therapies.
In the framework of the TODENZE project, IMDEA Energy is opening a Predoctoral Researcher position within the Thermochemical Processes Unit, looking for talented candidates with skills and interest to perform experimental research activities in the synthesis and characterization of zeolitic materials with advanced properties. Furthermore, the selected candidate needs to have the motivation required to pursue a PhD degree within the research field of the project.
Tasks Description:
- Revision of the state of the art of the fundamentals related to the project.
- Synthesis and characterization of dendritic zeolites, and the incorporation of different heteroatoms into the zeolitic framework.
- Synthesis of different zeolitic frameworks with dendritic morphology.
- Assessing the properties of the synthesized materials for their possible use as catalysts and carriers.
- Processing results and writing of reports.
- Dissemination of the results at both national and international congresses.
- Publication of research results in scientific journals.
- Supervising students in internships, TFG and TFM.
Compulsory Requirements:
- Official M.Sc. in Chemistry related topics, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering or equivalent, finished in the last 5 years.
Other merits to value:
- Knowledge and experimental practice on the synthesis of nanomaterials.
- Knowledge and experimental practice on analytical techniques typically applied in nanomaterials characterization (XRD, gas physisorption, TGA, SEM/TEM, etc.)
- Oral and written communication skills in English.
- Motivation to pursue the goals of the project.
- Motivation to pursue a PhD degree.
- Adequacy of the candidate's training to the requested profile.
- Work experience related to the profile of the job position.
- Knowledge of English.
- Motivation for accomplishing high-quality research.
- Remuneration: Between 20.900 € – 23.300 € per year, depending upon qualification and expertise.
*The contract includes all the benefits of the Spanish Public Health and Social Security System.
