Postdoctoral Researcher Position to work on conjugated porous polymers for energy applications

IMDEA Energy is opening a Postodoctoral Researcher Position for the Electrochemical and Photoactivated Processes Units. We are looking for talented and motivated candidates with strong background on organic synthesis and polymer chemistry. The aim of the research position is the design and synthesis of conjugated porous polymers incorporating redox-active groups as active materials to be used as high performing electrodes in different types of innovative batteries and photoelectrochemical reactors.

Tasks Description:

  • Synthesis of redox monomers di- and tri- substituted with the adequate functional groups.
  • Synthesis of conjugated microporous polymers (CMPs) following advanced polymerization routes.
  • Physicochemical and electrochemical characterization of redox monomers and polymers.
  • To formulate electrode inks and prepare electrodes based on redox polymers.
  • Assembling & Electrochemical Testing of polymer-based batteries (coin cells & pouch cells).
  • Test of polymer electrodes on photo(electro)chemical devices.
  • Communicate and disseminate research results through high-quality scientific channels including high impact scientific publications, presentation in congresses, etc.
  • Writing of project proposals to national and international calls related to the topic.
  • Supervision of PhD, Master or undergraduate students.
Requirements

Compulsory Requirements:

  • Ph.D. degree in organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, materials science, or related areas.

Other Merits to value:

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience and solid background on organic chemistry and polymer science.
  • Expertise in electrochemistry, photochemistry and/or batteries
  • Good track of indexed scientific publications.
  • Experienced in national and international research projects.
  • Accredited oral and written communication skills in English.

Conditions
  • Remuneration: Between 38.000€ – 41.000€ per year, depending upon qualification and expertise.

*The contract includes all the benefits of the Spanish Public Health and Social Security System.

  • Duration of the contract: up to three years depending on performance.
