Postdoctoral Researcher position to work on Sustainability and Energy Planning of Clean Fuels Production, Circular Systems and other Energy-Related Systems

Description

IMDEA Energy is opening a postdoctoral researcher position for the Systems Analysis Unit , looking for talented and motivated candidates to work on the Sustainability and Energy Planning of Clean Fuels Production, Circular Systems and other Energy-Related Systems in the MAD VUELA SOSTENIBLE project. In particular, the MAD VUELA SOSTENIBLE, a project granted by the Regional Government of Madrid, aims to research on new technologies to produce sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) with a low carbon footprint from wastes.

The requirements are as follows: 

Tasks Description:

  • Sustainability planning of systems for waste treatment and recycling, and clean fuels production.
  • Sustainability and energy planning of other energy-related systems.
  • Techno-economic assessment of energy and energy-related systems.
  • Life cycle assessment of energy and energy-related systems.
  • Dissemination and publication of research results in international scientific journals and conferences.
  • Supervision of undergraduate and graduate staff working in the R&D unit.
Requirements

Compulsory Requirements

  • PhD in Environmental, Energy or Chemical Engineering, Energy Planning, Enery economics or a related area.
  • Experience and solid background in sustainability and energy planning, as well as in specific software

Other merits to value:

  • Specific knowledge of sustainability and energy planning (energy systems modelling) software.
  • Knowledge of energy, energy-related and circular systems.
  • Knowledge of techno-economic modelling and assessment of energy and industrial processes/plants/systems.
  • Knowledge of life cycle assessment of energy and energy-related systems, with a focus on consequential life cycle assessment.
  • Fluent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Good track of indexed scientific publications according to PhD defence year.
  • Participation in networks, research projects and contracts in the field of sustainability and energy planning.
Selection Criteria
  • Adequacy of the candidate's training to the requested profile.
  • Work experience related to the profile of the job position.
  • Knowledge of English.
  • Motivation for accomplishing high-quality research.
Conditions

Remuneration: Between 38.000€ – 41.000€ Gross Salary per year, depending upon qualification and expertise.

*The contract includes all the benefits of the Spanish Public Health and Social Security System.

Duration of the contract: Until 31st December 2026
