Predoctoral Researcher position to work on active cooling and heat recovery in solar reactors for solar thermochemical synthesis of liquid fuels

IMDEA Energy is opening a predoctoral researcher position for the High-Temperature Processes Unit looking for talented and motivated candidates to work on innovative solutions for active cooling and heat recovery in solar reactors for solar thermochemical synthesis of liquid fuels using tailored porous-structured ceramic materials.
The requirements are as follows:
Tasks Description:
- R&D on heat transfer in solar reactors applied for solar thermochemical synthesis of liquid fuels.
- Design and synthesis of hierarchically porous materials by 3D printing techniques customized for promoting active cooling and/or heat recovery.
- Material characterization by means of conventional techniques (TGA, DSC, DRX, SEM, TEM…) and high-flux solar simulators (mechanical and thermal performance).
- Critical analysis of the results and writing of reports.
- Dissemination and publication of research results in scientific journals and conferences.
- Supervision of Master and undergraduate students.
Compulsory Requirements:
- B.Sc. degree in mechanical, materials, chemical, energy engineering, or similar.
- M.Sc. degree in mechanical, materials, chemical, energy engineering, or similar.
Other merits to value:
- Demonstrated experience and solid background on materials characterization techniques and/or computational fluid dynamics
- Knowledge and/or experimental practice on concentrating solar energy and/or high-temperature processes.
- International experience in research centres and/or universities.
- Oral and written communication skills in English.
- Adequacy of the candidate's training to the requested profile.
- Work experience related to the profile of the job position.
- Knowledge of English.
- Motivation for accomplishing high-quality research.
- Remuneration: Between 21.000€ – 23.500€ per year, depending upon qualification and expertise.
*The contract includes all the benefits of the Spanish Public Health and Social Security System.
