IMDEA Energy is opening a Research Assistant Position for the Biotechnological Processes Unit to work on Lactic acid production from organic wastes valorization via anaerobic open-mixed cultures. We are looking for talented and motivated candidates, who will be part of a multidisciplinary team with the following main goal: Optimized lactic acid production via anaerobic fermentation of organic wastes.

The requirements are as follows:

Tasks Description:

• Optimization of anaerobic cultures aiming at lactic acid accumulation in bioreactors
• Application of biougmentation strategies
• Analysis of biological analysis and physico-chemical parameters to control microorganisms performance
• Use of enzymes for LA polymerization

Compulsory Requirements:

• Degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Chemical engineering, Environmental engineering or similar
• Experience on Biological (microbial) processes

Other merits to value:

• MSc. degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Chemical engineering, Environmental engineering or similar
• Accredited experience in process optimization and physico-chemical (microbiological) analyses
• Experience in the use of enzymes as catalysts
• Knowledge of reactors performance (anaerobic digestion)
• Oral and written communication skills in English.

• Adequacy of the candidate's training to the requested profile.
• Work experience related to the job position.
• Knowledge of English.
• Motivation for accomplishing high-quality research.

• Remuneration: Between 18.000 € – 20.000 € per year, depending upon qualification and expertise.

*The contract includes all the benefits of the Spanish Public Health and Social Security System.

• Duration of the contract:  Until end of project-31st May 2025
