Predoctoral Researcher position to work on design of hardware and control solutions for energy storage applications in power systems

IMDEA Energy is opening a Predoctoral Researcher Position for the Electrical Systems Unit looking for talented and motivated candidates to work on design of hardware and control solutions for Energy Storage applications in Power Systems.
The requirements are as follows:
Tasks Description:
- R&D in development of control systems for power electronics converters.
- Design, modelling and development of control systems for power electronic converters and energy storage systems.
- Implementation and proof of concept of the control algorithms in a Power HIL environment (Smart Energy Integration Lab).
- Control algorithm transfer to industrial control platforms.
- Participation in national and international research projects related with grid stability and control of grid connected power electronic converters.
- Dissemination and publication of research results in scientific journals.
Compulsory Requirements:
- Oficial Master Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Industrial Engineering, Control Systems or similar.
- Bachelor degree in Electrical, Electronic or Industrial Engineering, Control Systems or similar.
- Solid background in Power Engineering, Power Engineering, Power Electronics, Control Systems and Industrial Communications.
Other merits to value:
- Knowledge in System Modelling, Power Networks, Renewable Energy Technologies, IT technologies and Real-Time Control systems.
- Knowledge of control algorithm implementation on microcontroller and DSP platforms.
- Experience in modelling systems in Matlab and Matlab Simulink.
- Experience in programming LabView.
- Oral and written communication skills in English
- Adequacy of the candidate's training to the requested profile.
- Work experience related to the profile of the job position.
- Knowledge of English.
- Motivation for accomplishing high-quality research.
- Remuneration: Between 21.000€ – 23.500€ per year, depending upon qualification and expertise.
*The contract includes all the benefits of the Spanish Public Health and Social Security System.
