IMDEA Energy is opening a Predoctoral Researcher position for the Thermochemical Processes Unit (TCPU), looking for talented candidates with motivation and skills to carry out experimental research. In particular, the TODENZE (OPENING THE PATHWAY TOWARDS DENDRITIC ZEOLITES) project, a European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grant H2020-EU.1.1. - EXCELLENT SCIENCE (Grant agreement ID: 101021502), aims the development of dendritic zeolites and their use as catalysts for biomass valorisation, and as nanocarriers for combined drug and gene therapies.The candidate must have knowledge of the main concepts around the catalytic processes, that is, synthesis and characterization of catalysts and analytical techniques, especially on those related with the project.

The requirements are as follows:

Tasks Description:

• Revision of the state of the art of the fundamentals related to the project.
• Synthesis and characterization of dendritic zeolites, and the incorporation of different heteroatoms into the zeolitic framework.
• Exploring the viability of different synthetic procedures to obtain various zeolitic frameworks.
• Performing fine chemistry catalytic tests.
• Processing results and writing of reports.
• Dissemination and publication of research results in various journals, and both national and international congresses.
• Supervising students in internships, TFG and TFM.

Compulsory Requirements:

• B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering, applied chemistry or equivalent.
• Master’s degree, in the field of Chemical Engineering, chemistry or equivalent.

Other merits to value:

• Knowledge and experimental practice on heterogeneous catalysis, either the synthesis of catalysts (preferable based on zeolites) or on running heterogeneously catalyzed reactions.
• Knowledge and experimental practice on analytical techniques typically applied in catalysts characterization (XRD, gas physisorption, TGA, SEM/TEM, etc.).
• Oral and written communication skills in English.
• Motivation to pursue the goals of the project.
• Motivation to pursue a PhD degree.

• Adequacy of the candidate's training to the requested profile.
• Work experience related to the profile of the job position.
• Knowledge of English.
• Motivation for accomplishing high-quality research.

• Remuneration: Between 21.500€ – 24.000€ per year, depending upon qualification and expertise.
