IMDEA Energy is opening a Predoctoral Researcher Position for the Biotechnological Processes Unit, looking for talented and motivated candidates to work on biochemicals production via anaerobic processes from organic residues.

The requirements are as follows

Tasks Description:

• Optimization of anaerobic culture conditions of microorganisms aiming at short-chain fatty acids and bioethanol production.
• Bioprocesses in bioreactors both at laboratory and pilot scale.
• Application of autofermentation strategies.
• Analysis of biological analysis and physico-chemical parameters to control microorganism’s performance.
• Communicate and disseminate research results through high-quality scientific channels including high impact scientific publications, presentations in conferences, etc.
• Supervision of Master or undergraduate studies.

Compulsory Requirements:

• Degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Chemical engineering, Environmental engineering or equivalent. 
• MSc degree in Biology, Biotechology, Chemical engineering, Environmental or equivalent
• Experience on biological (microbiological) processes. 

Other merits to value:

• Accredited experience in process optimization and physico-chemical (microbiological) analyses
• Knowledge of reactors performance (anaerobic digestion/anaerobic fermentation)
• Knowledge of English

• Adequacy of the candidate's training to the requested profile.
• Work experience related to the profile of the job position.
• Knowledge of English.
• Motivation for accomplishing high-quality research.

• Remuneration: Between 21.500€ – 24.000€ per year, depending upon qualification and expertise.

*The contract includes all the benefits of the Spanish Public Health and Social Security System.

• Contract: 1 year, possibility of renewal depending on performance.
