IMDEA Energy is opening a Predoctoral Researcher Position for the Biotechnological Processes Unit, looking for talented and motivated candidates to work on Development of resilient microbial cell factories adapted to high ionic strength waste streams for efficient bioenergy production.

The requirements are as follows

Tasks Description:

• Develop new single strains to efficiently produce biofuels by both short- (propagation optimization) and long-term adaptation (evolutionary engineering).
• Study the improved performance of microorganisms by integrated omics approaches of the evolved strains.
• Analysis of biological analysis and physico-chemical parameters to control microorganisms performance on high strength effluents
• Communicate and disseminate research results through high-quality scientific channels including high impact scientific publications, presentations in conferences, etc.
• Supervision of Master or undergraduate studies.

Compulsory Requirements:

• Degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Chemical engineering, Environmental engineering or equivalent. 
• MSc degree in Biology, Biotechology, Chemical engineering, Environmental or equivalent
• Experience on biological (microbiological) processes. 

Other merits to value:

• Accredited experience in bioprocess optimization and physico-chemical (microbiological) analyses
• Knowledge on yeast cultivation and reactors performance
• Knowledge of English

• Motivation for accomplishing high-quality research.

• Remuneration: Between 21.500€ – 24.000€ per year, depending upon qualification and expertise.

*The contract includes all the benefits of the Spanish Public Health and Social Security System.

• Contract: 1 year, possibility of renewal depending on performance.
