IMDEA Energy is opening a Senior Assistant Researcher Position for the Photoactivated Processes Unit to work on the production of solar fuels by photocatalysis and photo(electro)catalysis, with special emphasis on the photochemical elucidation of the charge transfer processes involved by means of Laser Flash Photolysis spectroscopy. We are seeking a highly motivated candidate, capable of driving his/her own research project independently while actively collaborating with other members of the lab.

The requirements are as follows:

Tasks Description:

• Advanced photochemical characterization of organic, inorganic and hybrid semiconductors (including the use of Laser Flash Photolysis technique).
• Preparation of photocatalytic systems and their implementation for solar fuels production.
• Assembly of photoactivated catalytic devices able to work under visible-light and bias-free conditions.
• Supervision and training of Master students and predoctoral/postdoctoral researchers.
• Communicate and disseminate research results through high-quality scientific channels including high impact scientific publications, presentation in congresses, etc.
• Preparation of project proposals to national and international calls.
• Coordination and management of granted projects.

Compulsory Requirements:

• PhD degree in chemistry or material science related areas.
• At least 7 years of post-doctoral experience in similar topics.

• Proven expertise on organic chemistry and photochemistry.
• Strong experience on charge transfer dynamics in materials and organic molecules by means of laser flash photolysis.
• Knowledge of analytical techniques such as Gas chromatography mass spectrometry and High-performance liquid chromatography will be valued.
• International research experience. International research stays during the postdoctoral period will be valued.
• Experience as Principal Investigator of research projects and personal grants.
• Proven experience in the preparation of proposals with public and private funding, mostly those related with the research topic.
• Experience in supervision of Internships, Master Thesis and PhD Thesis.
• Strong publication record. Very good scientific writing skills, ability to write peer-reviewed papers independently.
• Oral and written communication skills in English.
