IMDEA Energy is opening a Predoctoral Researcher Positionfor the Electrochemical Processes Unit, looking for talented and motivated candidates to work on the development of innovative energy storage technologies, aiming to drive sustainable and efficient solutions in the energy sector, focusing research into the development of innovative covalent organic frameworks as electrode materials in alkali-ion batteries and as redox target in redox flow batteries.

This contract is funded by the Community of Madrid through the programme "César Nombela 2024" (COFFEE project - Ref. 2024-T1/ECO-31517).

The requirements are as follows:

Tasks Description:

• Research on designing and synthesize new redox-active molecules leading to new redox-active COFs.
• Formulation, and electrochemical characterization of COF-based electrode materials or redox targets.
• Use of advanced characterization and analytical techniques such as SEM, XRD, XPS, N2 Adsorption Isotherms, liquid and solid-state NMR, Raman, FTIR and others.
• Assembly and testing of electrochemical cells (coin cells and flow cells).
• Communicate and disseminate research results through high-quality scientific channels including high impact scientific publications, presentations in conferences, etc.
• Supervision of Master or undergraduate studies.

Compulsory Requirements:

• Official Master degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Physics, Industrial Engineering, Materials Engineering or similar finished in the last four years.
• Bachelor degree in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or similar.

Other merits to value:

• Specific training or hands-on experience in synthesizing organic molecules/COFs.
• Specific training or hands-on experience in lithium-ion batteries and/or flow batteries.
• Specific training or hands-on experience in cells assembling (coin cells or flow cells).
• Specific training or hands-on experience with electrochemical techniques.
• Hands-on experience with materials characterization and analytical techniques.
• Experience in writing scientific publications.
• Oral and written communication skills in English.

• Adequacy of the candidate's training to the requested profile.
• Work experience related to the profile of the job position.
• Knowledge of English.
• Motivation for accomplishing high-quality research.

• Remuneration: Between 21.000€ – 23.500€ per year, depending upon qualification and expertise.

*The contract includes all the benefits of the Spanish Public Health and Social Security System.

• Contract: 1 year, possibility of annual renewals depending on performance.
