IMDEA Energy is opening a Senior Assistant Researcher Position for the Thermochemical Processes Unit to work on the development of advanced zeolitic materials with engineered properties and morphologies, paving the way for their application across a wide range of fields, including novel and potentially disruptive technologies. We are seeking a highly motivated candidate, capable of driving his/her own research project independently while actively collaborating with other members of the lab.

The requirements are as follows:

Tasks Description:

• Gaining insights into the mechanisms driving the formation of different zeolite morphologies, with especial emphasis on dendritic and hierarchical zeolites.
• Synthesis of zeolites and their modification by new approaches leading to unique textural properties, chemical compositions and morphologies.
• Characterization of synthesized and reference zeolites by basic and, more importantly, advanced techniques.
• Search for new and disruptive applications of dendritic and other engineered zeolites.
• Supervision and training of Bachelor/Master students, technicians and predoctoral/postdoctoral researchers.
• Communicate and disseminate research results through high-quality scientific channels including high impact scientific publications, presentations in congresses, social media, etc.
• Preparation of project proposals to national and international calls.
• Coordination and management of granted projects.

Compulsory Requirements:

• PhD degree in chemical engineering or related areas related to the profile of the position.
• At least 4 years of postdoctoral research activities related to the profile of the position.
• Experience in the synthesis of hierarchical and dendritic zeolites.
• Experience in the characterization of zeolites by Ar/N2 physisorption, Transmission Electron Microscopy and probe molecule-adsorption coupled to FT-IR analyses (acidity and accessibility of acid sites determination).

• Proven experience in the preparation of proposals with public and private funding, mostly those related to the research topic.
• Strong publication record. Very good scientific writing skills, and the ability to write peer-reviewed papers independently.
• Oral and written communication skills in English.
