IMDEA Energy is opening a Research Assistant position for the Electrochemical Processes Unit, looking for talented and motivated candidates to work on “Integrated Electrochemical Hydrogen Production and Water Decontamination”.

This position focuses on research into innovative electrolysers using alternatives electrolytes.

The requirements are as follows:

Tasks Description:

• Research on innovative materials for Hydrogen production and pollutant removal.
• Synthesis, formulation, and electrochemical characterization of electrode materials.
• Use of advanced characterization and analytical techniques such as SEM, XRD, XPS, N2 Adsorption Isotherms, Raman, FTIR, Gas Chromatography, Ion Chromatography, etc.
• Manufacturing components for electrochemical cells.
• Assembly and testing of electrochemical cells.
• Dissemination and publication of research results in scientific journals.

Compulsory Requirements:

• Bachelor degree in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or similar.

Other merits to value:

• Specific training or proven skills in design and development of hydrogen technologies.
• Specific training or hands-on experience with electrochemical conversion devices.
• Hands-on experience in conducting performance and durability operational tests of electrolysers / fuel cells.
• Experience in writing scientific publications.
• Oral and written communication skills in English.

• Adequacy of the candidate's training to the requested profile.
• Work experience related to the profile of the job position.
• Knowledge of English.
• Motivation for accomplishing high-quality research.

• Remuneration:  Between 18.000 - 20.500 € gross salary per year, depending upon qualification and expertise.

*The contract includes all the benefits of the Spanish Public Health and Social Security System.

• Duration of the contract:  Until the end of the project - December 2026.
