Postdoctoral Researcher Position at IMDEA Energía to work on research and development of hybrid supercapacitors for power grids
IMDEA Energy Institute is a María de Maeztu Center of Excellence whose objective is to develop R&D activities in the fields of renewable energies and clean energy technologies by establishing strong links with leading companies in the energy sector. (www.energy.imdea.org).
IMDEA Energy is opening a Postdoctoral Researcher Position for the Electrochemical Processes Unit looking for talented and motivated candidates, to work on research and development of hybrid supercapacitors for power grid applications.
The selected postdoctoral researcher shall develop R&D activities in the field of supercapacitors for grid applications.
The requirements are as follows:
Tasks Description:
- Manufacturing and testing of supercapacitor components and cells
- Implementation and proof of concept studies in laboratory and pilot environment.
- Participation in national and international research projects related with grid integration of energy storage and power devices.
- Communicate and disseminate research results through high-quality scientific channels including high impact scientific publications, presentations in conferences, etc.
- Supervision of undergraduate and graduate staff working in the R&D unit.
Compulsory Requirements:
- A PhD title in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Applied Physics, Physical Chemistry, Chemistry or related disciplines.
- Experience in preparation and characterization of materials and/or components for electrochemical energy storage devices.
Other merits to value:
- Solid R&D background in electrochemical capacitors: materials synthesis and characterization, components manufacturing, cell prototyping and testing.
- Experience with non-conventional electrolytes (e.g. redox active, polymers, deep eutectics).
- Remarkable track record of scientific publications.
- Experience in R&D in collaboration with companies.
- Oral and written communication skills in English.
- Adequacy of the candidate's training and experience to the requested profile.
- Work experience related to the profile of the job position.
- Knowledge of English.
- Motivation for accomplishing high-quality research.
- Remuneration: Between 39.000€ – 42.000€ per year, depending upon qualification and expertise.
*The contract includes all the benefits of the Spanish Public Health and Social Security System.
