Laboratory Technician to support the research line of membrane-free flow batteries

IMDEA Energy is opening a Laboratory Technician Position for the Electrochemical Processes Unit , looking for talented and motivated candidates to work for ERC project (Call: ERC-2024-POC) lead by Dr. Rebeca Marcilla
Tasks Description:
- Support in non-membrane battery testing, including: electrolyte preparation, assembly, and testing of small battery prototypes, etc.
- Support in Research on Fundamental Electrochemistry and Advanced Redox Flow Batteries (RFB) at lab scale.
- Support in Investigation of biphasic liquid-liquid systems for application in membrane-free RFB.
- Preparation of electrolyte solutions and characterization of their state of charge (SOC) using ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy.
- Characterization of Redox Electrolytes (solubility, viscosity, redox potential, kinetics and reversibility of redox reactions).
- Support in the Design and Operation of membrane-free electrochemical reactors.
- Preparation of the required result reports.
- General maintenance of the laboratory and calibration of equipment (balances, ovens, etc.), management of laboratory waste and monitoring the condition of the resources available to ensure safe laboratory work conditions.
- Management and control of laboratory materials and consumables.
Compulsory Requirements:
- Superior Technician in Laboratory Analysis and Quality Control or similar.
- Experience in analytical techniques applied to electrolyte characterization, e.g., UV-Visible Spectroscopy.
- Experience in batteries.
Other merits to value:
- Specific training in analytical techniques and/or data processing related to the tasks to be performed.
- Additional training and/or experience in chemistry and electrochemistry.
- Knowledge and experience in laboratory work following standardized procedures.
- Understanding of laboratory quality and safety protocols.
- Oral and written communication skills in English.
- Adequacy of the candidate's training to the requested profile.
- Work experience related to the job profile.
- Knowledge of English.
- Motivation for accomplishing high-quality research.
- Remuneration: Between 17.000€ – 21.000€ per year, depending upon qualification and expertise.
*The contract includes all the benefits of the Spanish Public Health and Social Security System.
