IMDEA Energy is opening a Senior Assistant Researcher Position for the Photoactivated Processes Unit, looking for a talented and motivated candidate capable of driving his/her own research project independently and leading the research team.

Research topic: Advanced Characterization of materials .

Tasks Description:.

  • Advanced X-ray spectroscopy characterization of surface chemistry and electronic structure of functional semiconductors with applications in green energy technologies.
  • Design of (photo)electrocatalytic systems and their implementation in solar fuels production.
  • In-situ/operando advanced characterization of the developed systems, including the use of synchrotron facilities.
  • Coordination and management of granted projects.
  • Prepare and/or coordinate project proposals for public and private funding organizations, including European Projects.
  • Supervision and training of predoctoral and postdoctoral researchers.
  • Publication of scientific results in high impact journals and communication and dissemination of the results.
Requirements

Compulsory Requirements

  • PhD degree in chemistry or material science or a related discipline.
  • At least eight years of post-doctoral experience and at least two of them in a foreign institution (both in the research topic)
  • Principal investigator of at least two national / international projects (both in the research topic).
  • Proven expertise in photoelectrochemistry and materials characterization with X-ray spectroscopy (e.g., XPS, XAS).
  • Fluent oral and written communication skills in English.

Merits to value:

  • Accredited experience on advance characterization techniques including synchrotron facilities.
  • Accredited experience in preparation of inorganic thin films.
  • Beneficiary researcher of a national or international excellence program (e.g. Ramón y Cajal, Juan de la Cierva, Marie Curie Individual Fellowship, ERC grant).
  • R3 / I3  Certificate.
  • Outstanding track of indexed scientific publications, mostly those related with the research topic.
  • Proven participation in European research and innovation projects, mostly those related with the research topic.
  • International research experience: research stays and collaborations, mostly those related with the research topic.
  • Experience in the preparation of proposals with public and private funding, mostly those related with the research topic.
  • Experience in supervision of Internships, Master Thesis and PhD Thesis, mostly those related with the research topic.
