IMDEA Energy is opening a Research Assistant position or the Thermochemical Processes Unit (TCPU), looking for talented candidates with motivation and skills to carry out experimental research. In particular, the TODENZE (OPENING THE PATHWAY TOWARDS DENDRITIC ZEOLITES) project, a European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grant H2020-EU.1.1. - EXCELLENT SCIENCE (Grant agreement ID: 101021502), aims the development of dendritic zeolites and their use as catalysts for biomass valorisation, and as nanocarriers for combined drug and gene therapies. The candidate must have knowledge of the main concepts around the catalytic processes, that is, synthesis and characterization of catalysts, chemical reactors and analytical techniques.

The requirements are as follows:

Tasks Description:

• Revision of the state of the art of the fundamentals of zeolite and mesoporous silicon-based materials synthesis.
• Synthesis and characterization of zeolites from a green chemistry perspective.
• Synthesis and characterization of heterogeneous multifunctional catalysts for fine chemistry reactions.
• Adjustment of the reaction system, screening the activity of catalysts and optimization of the operational conditions.
• Processing results and writing of reports.

Compulsory Requirements:

• B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering, applied chemistry or equivalent, finished in the last 4 years, are sought.
• Not holding a Doctorate degree.

Other merits to value:

• Knowledge and experimental practice on heterogeneous catalysis, either the synthesis of catalysts (preferable based on zeolites) or on running reactions (preferably batch reactors systems).
• Knowledge and experimental practice on analytical techniques typically applied in catalysts characterization (XRD, gas physisorption, etc.) and/or analysis of chemical products (GC, GC-MS, etc.)
• Oral and written communication skills in English.
• Holding or pursuing a M.Sc. in Applied Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or equivalent.

• Adequacy of the candidate's training to the requested profile.
• Work experience related to the profile of the job position.
• Knowledge of English.
• Motivation for accomplishing high-quality research.

• Remuneration: Between 18.500€ – 20.500€ per year, depending upon qualification and expertise.

*The contract includes all the benefits of the Spanish Public Health and Social Security System.
