Postdoctoral researcher position to work on anaerobic digestion of municipal solids waste

IMDEA Energy is opening a Postdoctoral Position for the Biotechnological Processes Unit, seeking talented and motivated candidates to work on biogas production from the organic fraction of municipal solid waste.
This position is part of the HUB Madrid Vuela Sostenible Project, a regional R&D initiative focused on the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF).
The requirements are as follows:
Tasks Description:
- Optimization of anaerobic culture conditions of microorganisms aimed at enhancing biogas production.
- Development and operation of bioprocesses in bioreactors at both laboratory and pilot scale.
- Analysis of biological and physicochemical parameters to monitor and control microbial performance.
- Microbial community analysis.
- Modelling of the anaerobic digestion process.
- Communicate and disseminate research results through high-quality scientific channels including high impact scientific publications, presentation in congresses, etc.
- Preparation of project proposals for national and international funding calls related to the topic.
- Supervision of PhD, Master’s, and undergraduate students.
Compulsory Requirements
- Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Sciences or related areas.
- Solid background and proved experimental skills in anaerobic digestion and different reactor configuration.
Other merits to value:
- 1-2 yeast experience as postdoctoral researcher.
- Accredited experience in anaerobic process optimization and physico-chemical (microbiological) analyses.
- Experienced in national and international research projects and collaborations.
- Publications in high impact scientific journals.
- Oral and written communication skills in English
- Adequacy of the candidate's training and experience to the requested profile.
- Quality and impact of scientific publications.

Remuneration: Between 40.000€ – 44.000€ Gross Salary per year, depending upon qualification and expertise.
*The contract includes all the benefits of the Spanish Public Health and Social Security System.
Duration of the contract: Until the end of the project. Duration: 1 year
