IMDEA Energy is opening a Postdoctoral Researcher Position for the Biotechnological Processes Unit, seeking talented and motivated candidates to work on single-cell protein (SCP) production using non-conventional yeasts.

This position is part of the WAVE Project, an international R&D initiative focused on the production of bioplastics and clean irrigation water from dairy wastewater.

The requirements are as follows:

Tasks Description:

• Optimization of culture conditions for single-cell protein (SCP) production from short-chain fatty acids.
• Development and operation of bioprocesses in bioreactors at both laboratory and pilot scale.
• Improvement of yeast strains through adaptive laboratory evolution and metabolic engineering.
• Communicate and disseminate research results through high-quality scientific channels including high impact scientific publications, presentation in congresses, etc.
• Preparation of project proposals for national and international funding calls related to the research topic.
• Supervision of PhD, Master’s, and undergraduate students.

Compulsory Requirements

• Ph.D. degree in Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Biology or related areas.
• Solid background and proved experimental skills in yeast fermentation and process optimization.

Remuneration: Between 40.000€ – 44.000€ Gross Salary per year, depending upon qualification and expertise.
