IMDEA Energy is opening a Research Assistant position in the Biotechnological Processes Unit, seeking motivated candidates to work on bioethanol production from pretreated municipal solid waste.

The requirements are as follows:

Tasks Description:

• Macromolecular characterization of the substrate.
• Optimization of the enzymatic hydrolysis step.
• Production of bioethanol from hydrolyzed streams.
• Assessment of simultaneous enzymatic hydrolysis and fermentation.
• Process scale-up to 50 L bioreactors.

Compulsory Requirements:

• Degree in Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Biology or related areas.

Other merits to value:

• Previous experience with yeast fermentation
• Previous experience in a biotechnology lab (analytics, microorganisms cultivation, waste valorization, etc)
• Oral and written communication skills in English.

• Adequacy of the candidate's training to the requested profile.
• Work experience related to the profile of the job position.
• Knowledge of English.
• Motivation for accomplishing high-quality research.

• Remuneration: Between 19.000€ – 21.000€ per year, depending upon qualification and expertise.

*The contract includes all the benefits of the Spanish Public Health and Social Security System.
