Postdoctoral Researcher Position at IMDEA Energía to work on process modeling and integration of machine learning in the simulation of clean fuels production, circular systems and other energy-related systems

IMDEA Energy is opening a Postdoctoral Researcher Position for the Systems Analysis Unit, looking for talented and motivated candidates to work on process modeling and integration of machine learning in the simulation of clean fuels production, circular systems and other energy-related systems.
The new researcher will join the research team of the Systems Analysis Unit aimed at modeling and simulation of energy and energy-related processes and systems. The new researcher will be in charge of:
Tasks Description:
- Modeling of chemical, energy and circular economy systems based on their chemistry, thermodynamics and/or kinetics.
- Design and simulation of processes/systems based on the developed models.
- Integration of machine learning in simulation frameworks of the systems mentioned.
- Techno-economic assessment of the developed models and energy-related processes/systems.
- Dissemination and publication of research results in international scientific journals and conferences.
- Supervision of Master's and Bachelor's students.
Compulsory Requirements:
- PhD in Chemical, Environmental or Energy Engineering, or a related area.
- Deep knowledge and demonstrable experience on process modeling and simulation, and integration of machine learning in simulation frameworks of chemical/energy and/or circular economy processes, as well as in specific software software (Aspen Plus, Aspen HYSYS…).
Other merits to value:
- Knowledge of circular economy systems, clean fuels production and hydrogen.
- Knowledge of material flow analysis.
- Knowledge of techno-economic assessment of energy and industrial processes/plants/systems.
- Participation in networks, research projects and contracts in the field of simulation of energy or chemical systems.
- Oral and written communication skills in English.
- Adequacy of the candidate's training and experience to the requested profile.
- Work experience related to the profile of the job position.
- Knowledge of English.
- Motivation for accomplishing high-quality research.
- Remuneration: Between 40.000€ – 44.000€ per year, depending upon qualification and expertise.
*The contract includes all the benefits of the Spanish Public Health and Social Security System.
