Assistant researcher position to work on “Dry reforming of biogas to hydrogen”

The HUB MADRID +CIRCULAR project (“HUB in circular economy innovation from the Community of Madrid”), a regional project cofounded by the European Fund for the regional development to contribute on the improvement of the private-public cooperation in I+D+i within the RIS3 and FEDER programmes. The main objective is to explore models and technologies for the valorisation of wastes and generation of hydrogen.   

IMDEA Energy is opening an assistant researcher position for the Thermochemical Processes Unit, looking for talented and motivated candidates to give support in the research line belonging to the aforementioned HUB project related with the dry reforming of biogas (DRB) to hydrogen/syngas.

Tasks Description:

  • Preparation and characterization of perovskites or other oxygen carriers to be applied as catalysts in DRB.
  • Running reactions of DRB and analysis of products, mainly by mass-spectrometry.
  • Processing results and writing of reports.
Requirements

Compulsory Requirements:

  • BSc in Chemical Engineering, applied chemistry or equivalent, finished in the last 5 years

Merits to value:

  • Knowledge and experimental practice on heterogeneous catalysis, preferably based on fixed-bed reactors and gaseous hydrocarbons systems (e.g. reforming, catalytic methane decomposition).
  • Knowledge and experimental practice of analytical techniques typically applied in biogas reforming (mass-spectrometry, thermogravimetry, elemental CHNS/O analysis, etc.) and/or catalysts characterization (XRD, gas physisorption, etc.)
  • Oral and written communication skills in English.

  • Adequacy of the candidate's academic profile the requested one.
  • Experience related to the profile of the job position.
  • Knowledge of English.
  • Motivation to pursue the goals of the project.
Conditions
  • Remuneration: 17.200 €  Gross Salary per year.

            *The contract includes all the benefits of the Spanish Public Health and Social Security System.

  • Duration of the contract: 1 year, possibility of annual renewals depending on performance.
