Assistant researcher position to work on “Hydrotreatment of bio-oils coming from thermal and/or catalytic pyrolysis

Description

The HUB MADRID +CIRCULAR project (“HUB in circular economy innovation from the Community of Madrid”), a regional project cofounded by the European Fund for the regional development to contribute on the improvement of the private-public cooperation in I+D+i within the RIS3 and FEDER programmes, aims as one of its objectives to develop novel “a la carte” catalysts based on metal organic frameworks (MOFs) for the hydrotreatment of bio-oils coming from thermal and/or catalytic pyrolysis.

IMDEA Energy is opening an assistant researcher position for the Advanced Porous Materials Unit and Thermochemical Processes Unit, looking for talented and motivated candidates with strong background in Chemistry and Material Science, for mainly the preparation of new heterogeneous catalysts and their catalytic testing.

Tasks Description:

  • Synthesis of metal organic frameworks (MOFs) and their association to different active (organic or inorganic) species.
  • Full characterization of the obtained materials using a large panel of techniques.
  • Critical analysis of the results and writing of reports.
  • Dissemination and publication of research results in scientific journals.
Requirements

Compulsory Requirements

  • Official BSc in Chemistry, Material Science, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience and solid background in material synthesis (inorganic and coordination chemistry) and characterization (PXRD, fluid sorption, spectroscopies, microscopies, TGA, etc.).

Merits to value:

  • Knowledge on heterogeneous catalysis, including its evaluation using chromatographic techniques (e.g. GC, HPLC).
  • Oral and written communication skills in English.

Conditions
  • Remuneration: 17.200 €  Gross Salary per year.

*The contract includes all the benefits of the Spanish Public Health and Social Security System.

  • Expected Starting Date: between February and May 2022.
  • Duration of the contract: 1 year, possibility of annual renewals depending on performance.
